The Autism Center of Excellence (ACE) Research Program (www.autismsandiego.org) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to pursue Molecular Developmental Biology. ACE is part of the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, located 2 miles off the main campus and close to the Salk Institute and the Scripps Research Institute. The immediate laboratory, Directed by Eric Courchesne, contains 20 scientists ranging from the B.A. to Ph.D. level. Collaborators of the ACE extend locally (including scientists at the SALK and The Scripps Research Institute) as well as nationally; thus there is rich interdisciplinary climate at the ACE.
Requirements
Candidate must possess a Ph.D., and prior experience in molecular and/or cellular neurobiology with expertise in developmental research either with animal models or human disorders. Knowledge of in situ hybridization, RT-PCR, brain tissue sectioning, staining, morphometric analyses, gene expression, and/or stereology is required.
Salary/Stipend Information:
On NIH Postdoctoral Scholar Salary Scale
Procedure to Apply:
Applicants are welcome to include in their cover letters a personal statement summarizing their contributions to diversity. UCSD is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer with a strong institutional commitment to excellence through diversity. All applicants will be required to submit a CV, Self-Statement of Research Activities, and a minimum of 3 letters of reference.

Post Doc: Multimodal Imaging
Description
The Autism Center of Excellence (ACE) Research Program (www.autismsandiego.org)
is seeking an entry level project scientist to pursue multimodal imaging. ACE
is part of the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego.
The UCSD ACE is located 2 miles off the main UCSD campus and is close to the
Salk Institute and the Scripps Research Institute. The immediate laboratory,
Directed by Eric Courchesne, contains 20 scientists ranging from the B.A. to Ph.D.
level. Collaborators of the ACE extend locally (including scientists at the
SALK and The Scripps Research Institute) as well as nationally (e.g., UCSF),
thus there is rich interdisciplinary climate at the ACE. The ACE has full
technical capabilities including a multi-node cluster system for high
throughput data analyses.
One of the goals of the UCSD ACE is to discover a unique neuroanatomic and/or neurofunctional profile of babies at-risk for autism ranging in age from 12-42 months. The successful candidate will take a leading role in implementing and analyzing an extensive brain-imaging protocol that includes perfusion, diffusion tensor, structural and functional imaging. Structural and functional brain imaging data will also be considered in light of genetics data including full genotyping. Thus, this position will involve working closely with a multidisciplinary team. The age range of our subjects is primarily from early infancy to four years old with some additional studies including young adults. In addition to taking a leading role in analyses, the successful candidate will also assist with MRI data collection. Ample opportunity will also be provided to the candidate to self-explore and lead research.
